About the Polls

Every topline matches the pollster's own release, topline PDF or trend table. Copies of each source are kept with the dataset.

Sources

  • Gallup. Trend tables published on Gallup's topic pages Middle East, Country Ratings and Iran. Question wording and notes are taken from the header of each table. Sample size, mode and margin of error are shown for waves whose survey-methods statement was read in a Gallup release; other waves show values only.
  • Pew Research Center. Topline and methodology PDFs from the American Trends Panel releases linked on each question page.
  • Quinnipiac University. National poll releases at poll.qu.edu, including the full question text and the sample statement.
  • AP-NORC Center for Public Affairs Research. Topline and methodology PDFs for AmeriSpeak panel surveys.

Sources were accessed October 13, 2026.

Coverage

The bank holds 58 questions asked of U.S. adults or registered voters about Israel, the Palestinians, the Gaza war, Iran, country favorability for Middle Eastern states, and U.S. policy and aid in the region, with fieldwork from 1989 to July 27, 2026. Where a pollster repeated a question, every wave in its published trend is shown. Polling of Israeli voters appears in Israel Vote 2026; MEF-commissioned surveys of Israelis are listed on the Pollsters page.

Update Cadence

Gallup trend tables are re-read daily and every source link is checked for availability. New surveys from other pollsters are added as they are released and verified.

Definitions

  • Wording. The question as the pollster published it. Pollster dashes are shown as a double hyphen (--); bracketed text such as [ROTATED] is the pollster's interviewer instruction.
  • Field dates. First and last day of interviewing. Waves a pollster labels only by season or month are marked as labelled by the pollster and plotted at an approximate date.
  • Population. Who was sampled: U.S. adults or U.S. registered voters.
  • Mode. How interviews were done: live telephone, probability-based online panel, or a mix.
  • Margin of error. The pollster's stated sampling margin for the full sample at 95% confidence, in percentage points. Subsamples (for example, half-sample forms) carry larger margins, noted on the question page.
  • Toplines. Percentages of all respondents. "*" means less than 0.5%; "--" means not asked or not reported. Rows may not sum to 100 because of rounding.
  • (vol.) A response the interviewer did not read but the respondent volunteered.
